Putin to meet Iranian, Turkish leaders in Tehran next week

Moscow, Jul 12 (EFE).- Russian president Vladimir Putin is to travel to Tehran next week for a trilateral summit with Iran and Turkey on July 19, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

The Russian leader is set to meet with Iran’s Ebrahim Raisi and Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan as part of the so-called Astana format on the Syrian war. All three nations are involved in the conflict — Russia and Iran back president Bashar Al Assad while Turkey offers support to Syrian rebels.

Putin will also hold bilateral meetings during the trip, his spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in his daily press conference. EFE
