Zelenskyy hails ‘all-around advance’ by Ukrainian forces over 24 hours

Kyiv, Jun 27 (EFE).- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy late on Monday praised the advances made by the Ukrainian military in “all directions” over 24 hours, soon after visiting his troops on the frontlines in the eastern Donetsk region.

“Today, our warriors have advanced in all directions, and this is a happy day. I wished the guys more days like this,” Zelenkyy said in his latest address to the nation, filmed in a train while returning from the front and released late on Monday night.

Hours before the president’s night-time proclamation, the Ukrainian defense ministry had claimed to have advanced between one and two kilometers in Donetsk’s Bakhmut area, and recapturing the locality of Rivnopil in the southern part of the front.

Rivnopil is a village situated in southwest Donetsk, close to the administrative border with the neigboring Zaporizhzhia region.

From the intersection of the two provinces, Ukraine is trying to advance towards the south to reach the Sea of Azov and cut off the land corridor that connects the Moscow-occupied Crimean peninsula with Russia.

The Institute for the Study of War, a popular United States-based think-tank that analyzes the Ukraine conflict, has confirmed the recapture of Rivnopil by Kyiv by geolocation.

According to the Ukrainian chief of general staff, Russia continues to focus its offensive efforts on the frontlines east of Lyman, Bakhmut and Marinka, but has failed to succeed as per Kyiv’s claims.

Meanwhile in the southern theater of war, Moscow is reportedly mainly aiming to defend its lines from the Ukrainian offensive.

Ukraine launched its long-waited counteroffensive over three weeks ago in three different sections of the front, situated in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. EFE
