UN: Bucha images suggest deliberate killings of civilians

Geneva, Apr 5 (EFE).- Images emerging from the Ukrainian town of Bucha indicate the deliberate killing of civilians, the United Nations human rights office said Tuesday.

The UN office spokeswoman Liz Throssell described the reports from the town on the outskirts of Kyiv as “disturbing.”

“You could argue there was a military context, for example, to a building being hit; it’s hard to see what was the military context of an individual lying in the street with a bullet to the head or having their bodies burned,” she added at a press conference.

Russian troops occupied Bucha during a two-week siege of Ukraine’s capital Kyiv.

After regaining the territory, Ukrainian forces and local and international media found evidence of mass graves as well as corpses bearing signs of extrajudicial executions, such as bound hands and burns.EFE
