Beijing, Nov 17 (EFE).- The China National Meteorological Center renewed Friday the orange-level alert for snow storms that will affect part of the northeast and southwest of the country.
The agency’s forecasts estimate that from Friday until Saturday at 2:00pm local time (06:00 GMT) snow storms will occur in the northeastern provinces of Jilin and Heilongjiang, in addition to Sichuan.
The amount of accumulated snow could reach 13 centimeters in some areas, according to the latest report from the competent authorities.
China has a four-level warning system for severe weather, with red being the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
Authorities advised the population to take precautions against the cold and wind and asked the police to prepare for frost on several roads.
On Nov. 5, China issued its first orange alert for snow storms in the northeast of the country with maximums of 25 centimeters, followed by another alert Thursday night.
In addition to the unusual date, there was a significant drop in temperatures in several regions with drops of up to 16C. EFE
