China, Russia, Iran hold naval exercises in Gulf of Oman

Beijing, Mar 15 (EFE).- China, Russia and Iran will carry out joint naval exercises in the Gulf of Oman from Wednesday to Sunday, China’s defense ministry said in a Wednesday statement.

“The navies of China, Iran and Russia will carry out naval exercises involving the Chinese destroyer Nanning. The exercises will seek to deepen practical cooperation between the navies of the participating countries to demonstrate their willingness and ability to jointly safeguard maritime security,” the statement read.

It added that the exercises “will inject positive energy into regional stability and peace.”

In 2022, the countries conducted similar exercises in the same area, involving artillery firing practice against naval targets, joint tactical maneuvers, and high seas search and rescue missions. EFE
