Marta Ortega pays tribute to Peter Lindbergh with show in Galicia

Madrid, Dec 3 (EFE).- The incoming chairwoman of the Inditex fashion group, Marta Ortega, paid tribute to photographer Peter Lindbergh with an event that brought together the biggest fashion names in the world.

The exhibition on display in the Spanish city of A Coruña, in the northwestern region of Galicia, is the first major show of the German fashion photographer’s work curated by Lindbergh himself before his death in 2019.

‘Peter Lindbergh: Untold Stories’ showcases over 160 photographs from Lindbergh’s four-decade career, including images of some of the most celebrated women in the world such as Nicole Kidman, Charlotte Rampling, Uma Thurman, Kate Moss and the photographer’s muse, Naomi Campbell.

Campbell herself was among the guests at the event along with Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, Italian director and screenwriter Luca Guadagnino, models Esther Cañadas, Jon Kortajarena and actress Rossy de Palma among others.

“Peter and Galicia have great similarities: savage nature, natural beauty, the human warmth that makes you feel alive. For me it is a privilege to be able to bring them together,” Marta Ortega, who is poised to take over as chair of the Inditex group, which owns Zara and was founded by her father Amancio Ortega, said in a statement.

Lindbergh was a friend of Ortega and photographer of her wedding to Carlos Torretta in 2018.

Ortega is the driving force behind this exhibition along with Lindbergh’s son, Benjamin Lindbergh, director of the exhibition.

“I firmly believe that this will be just the beginning for many people who, when they discover Peter’s world, will fall in love with his images and will be interested in learning more about him,” Ortega said. EFE
