Curry dominates as Warriors beat Celtics 107-97, tie NBA Finals 2-2

Boston, US, Jun 10 (EFE).- Steph Curry came into his own on Friday, two days after triggering concerns due to a leg injury, by shooting a double-double of 43 points and 10 rebounds and helping the Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics 107-97, with the NBA Finals series now tied 2-2.

At Boston’s TD Garden, Curry’s three-pointers spoiled the party for the hosts, and returned the home advantage to the Warriors as they go into the fifth game of the best-of-seven series at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Monday.

Aside from Curry, who also contributed four assists, Warriors’ efforts were backed by Klay Thompson (18 points) and Andrew Wiggins, who scored 17 points and made 16 rebounds.

For the Celtics, Jayson Tatum scored 23 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, followed by Jaylen Brown – 21 points and six rebounds – and Al Horford, who held his own with eight points, six rebounds and four assists.

Unlike the third game, in which Boston had surged ahead early thanks to an 18-point advantage in the second quarter, Friday’s game continued to hang in the balance.

However, Curry had already stamped his authority by half time, with 19 points in his kitty.

He scored two back-to-back three points to take his team to 23-18, with Warriors managing a superior conversion rate while Celtics kept losing balls.

Tatum and Brown scored in quick succession to help Boston end the second quarter at 54-49, but in the third quarter Curry raised the level even further, scoring 14 points and overcoming the Celtics’ resistance.

Although Brown came up with some spectacular play in the fourth, Curry continued to dominate with ample support from Thompson, and took the score to 100-94 with two more three-pointers, with 1.42 minutes left on the clock.

Despite an impressive three-pointer by Horford, the Celtics were unable to bridge the gap, and Curry came out as the star of the show, amid chants of “MVP” by Warriors fans present at the Garden. EFE
