China willing to ‘de-escalate’ Israel-Palestine crisis with Russia: envoy

Beijing, Oct 20 (EFE).- China’s special envoy for the Middle East met has with Russian and Qatari officials to address Israel-Palestine Crisis, for which the Asian giant will seek with its Russian neighbor to “de-escalate” the situation.
In his meeting with Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov on Thursday, Zhai Jun highlighted that China and Russia share the same position in the conflict, according to a Chinese Foreign Ministry statement issued Friday.
“The fundamental reason why the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has reached its current state is that the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people have not been protected,” the statement said.
Zhai expressed his sadness over the civilian casualties and the rapid deterioration of humanitarian situation in Palestine, in addition to underlining that China is willing to coordinate with Russia to de-escalate the situation, play a positive role in the resumption of peace talks and the implementation of the two-state solution, it added.
The meeting with Qatar reinforced the call for calm and restraint in the region, in which China urged international cooperation to achieve a ceasefire and underlined the importance of a political solution and dialogue in the conflict, according to a separate ministry statement. EFE
