Chinese foreign minister to visit Germany, France and Norway

Beijing. May 8 (EFE)- Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang is set to visit Germany, France and Norway between May 8-12, his ministry announced in a statement Monday.

“At the invitation of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna and Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang will pay a visit to Germany, France and Norway from May 8 to 12,” said the statement, without offering further details.

Baerbock had visited China in late April, where she said it would be horrifying if a military conflict broke out on the Taiwan issue, with possible economic implications for the world economy.

The German minister’s visit came months after Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s trip to the Asian giant, during which he offered to cooperate with Beijing and sought to resolve differences between the two sides.

Qin’s France visit and plans to meet Colonna come in the wake of French President Emmanuel Macron’s China visit in April, when he urged his counterpart Xi Jinping to intervene and help resolve the Ukraine conflict. EFE
