Chinese regional passenger jet ARJ21 gets first overseas buyer

Shanghai, China, Dec 19 (EFE).- Indonesia’s low-cost airline TransNusa became the first foreign company to acquire the first regional passenger aircraft developed by China, the ARJ21, state-owned economic news portal Yicai reported Monday.

TransNusa has received an ARJ21 with 95 economy-class seats, and the aircraft have a fully loaded air range of between 2,225 kilometers (1,383 miles) and 3,700 km.

Since its commercialization in 2016, nearly 100 ARJ21 have been delivered to Chinese airlines, which have used it to connect more than 300 routes and transport some 5.6 million passengers.

The plane’s manufacturer, the state owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd., or COMAC, has also developed the C919, expected to start operating in April next year, with which the company intends to compete directly with the US Boeing 737 and the European Airbus A320. EFE
