Messi to miss Lyon clash as he continues Covid-19 recovery

Paris, Jan 8 (EFE).- Paris Saint Germain’s Lionel Messi will be on the sidelines during their Ligue 1 clash against Lyon despite having tested negative for coronavirus, the French club said in a statement on Saturday.

The Argentine, who tested positive this week, returned to Paris on Wednesday from Argentina after a negative test.

But he “will continue his individual post-Covid recovery programme in the coming days,” the statement read. Since his return, Messi has been training on the sidelines.

Five PSG players remain in isolation after testing positive for coronavirus, including Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler, Danilo Pereira, Layvin Kurzawa and Gianluigi Donnarumma, the statement added.

Frenchman Alexandre Letellier and Neymar are still recovering from their respective injuries, with the Brazilian expected to resume training in three weeks. EFE
