City on cusp of title after comfortable 2-0 win at Palace
London, May 1 (EFE).- Goals from Sergio Agüero and Ferran Torres in the space of two second half minutes handed Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace that brought the Premier League title within touching distance.
City will be crowned champions if crosstown rivals Manchester United lose on Sunday at home to last year’s winners Liverpool.
Guardiola made eight changes to the team that won so impressively in Paris in the Champions League semi final in midweek, anming Aguero, Sterling, and Torres in attack.
Agüero, who leaves City at the end of the season, has not had much game time this year but scored his goal with an immaculate finish into the roof of the net to break the deadlock just before the hour.
Within two minutes, City had doubled their lead when Torres pounced on a Palace defensive mix up to stroke the ball in.
The win leaves City on 80 points, 13 ahead of United with five games remaining for the Red Devils. EFE
