Colombia, France through to quarters as Jamaica, Morocco head home

Sports Desk, Aug 8 (EFE).- Colombia beat Jamaica 1-0 on Tuesday thanks to Catalina Usme’s left-footed effort to eliminate the Caribbeans from the tournament and advance to the quarter finals.
After a tetchy first half littered with fouls and errors, Colombia took the lead in the 51st minute after Usme took down Ana Maria Guzman’s cross-field pass with one touch and buried the ball into the far corner with her second, to send Colombian fans and players into raptures.
Colombia will face European champions England in the last eight.
In Tuesday’s second round of 16 tie, Eugenie Le Sommer scored twice for France as Les Bleus cruised past Morocco with a 4-0 victory.
Kadidiatou Diani headed in to round off a flowing move down the left to open the scoring after 15 minutes, before turning provider for Kenza Dali five minutes later.
Le Sommer bagged the first of her two goals three minutes later as France assumed complete control of the match, with her second coming through an easy back-post header on 70 minutes.
While Morocco’s dream ends, France move on to face co-hosts Australia in the quarter final.EFE
