Huge crowds revel as Pride festivities return to Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv, Israel, Jun 25 (EFE).- Tens of thousands of mask-less people on Friday joined Pride in Tel Aviv in one of the biggest events of the year and since the coronavirus pandemic.

Dressed in vibrant colored outfits and waving rainbow flags, large crowds of people danced and marched along the seafront promenade honoring the LGBTQ community.

Tel Aviv is considered the Gay Capital of the Middle East and is a rare hub of LGBTQ culture compared to its conservative neighbors.

An estimated 100,000 people attended Friday’s pride, which would be the largest event since the pandemic.

Some have voiced concerns over a Covid-19 spike after Pride.

After one of the fastest vaccination schemes and relaxation of restrictions, Israel told citizens on Friday they must wear masks in indoor public spaces again following a surge in the Delta variant of coronavirus. EFE
