Hundreds of MLGW Customers Without Power As Temperatures Fall To Single Digits

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) — Many Memphis, Light Gas and Water (MLGW) customers are still without power Tuesday night as bitter cold, snow and ice continue to impact the Mid-South.
The MLGW outage map shows that the Frayser area is most impacted as of late Tuesday night.
The number of customers without power peaked at nearly 2,000 Tuesday evening. Cordova was largely affected before power was restored at 6:36 p.m.
Action News 5 reached out to MLGW for details surrounding Cordova’s outage and its cause. A spokesperson responded saying they did not have specifics to share at this time.
A spokesperson was however able to provide the following update on the outage in Frayser:
“There were wires down. Crews are working as quickly and as safely as they can to restore power. So far, they have been able to reduce the number impacted from around 800 to 200. Estimated time of restoration is approximately midnight.”
