Germany’s mandatory tests for non-vaccinated arrivals come into force

Berlin, Aug 1 (EFE).- Germany on Sunday began to require non-vaccinated travellers older than 12 years a negative coronavirus test to be allowed to enter the country.

Fully vaccinated people and those who recovered from the coronavirus are exempted from the mandatory test, which will apply to all passengers regardless of whether they travel by plane, train or car.

Non-vaccinated travellers from high-risk regions are to observe a 10-day quarantine that could be reduced if a negative test is presented five days later.

People coming from countries where more aggressive variants are dominating must quarantine for 14 days regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not.

The measures came into force amid an increase in the coronavirus infections that stood at 2,097 cases over the past 24 hours compared to 1,387 cases reported a week ago.

In Germany, 52% of the population have received the full course of the vaccine and 61.3% at least the first dose. EFE
