Third dose of AstraZeneca would improve immune response. study finds

London, Jun 28 (EFE).- A booster of the AstraZeneca vaccine would enhance the immunity system against the coronavirus and the new variants, a study published Monday by The Lancet medical magazine said.

Extending the interval between the AstraZeneca vaccine’s two shots from 12 to 45 weeks would increase antibodies by four times, according to the preliminary results of the study carried out by the Oxford university.

The level of antibodies remains high compared to the initial value for at least a year after the first jab, the research shows.

Administering a third jab at least six months after the second would increase the antibody by six folds and offer more protection against the Alfa, Beta and Delta variants, the study added. EFE
