Pedaltown Bicycle Company Holds ‘Build-A-Bike’ Program To Help Those In Need
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com/LPL) — Un nuevo programa está ayudando a llevar bicicletas a adultos y niños que necesitan transporte.
El programa lanzado por la Compañía Pedaltown Bicycle recibe bicicletas usadas de clientes que buscan comprar una nueva. El negocio luego usa las bicicletas para donarlas a aquellos que necesitan un medio de transporte.
El propietario de Pedaltown explicó los múltiples beneficios de este programa.
“Hay mucho que aprender en un esfuerzo como este”, dijo Clark Butcher. “La persona que está recibiendo una nueva bicicleta y pagando la de otro (indirectamente), está aprendiendo nuevas habilidades y es un buen rasgo. Y la persona que recibe la bicicleta está aprendiendo cómo reparar, reemplazar, así como la capacidad de ver esa línea de meta y obtener ese producto al final de sus horas de servicio comunitario”.
Para que una persona reciba una bicicleta, debe pasar por el programa “Construye-Una-Bici’”, donde los participantes hacen 10 horas de servicio comunitario antes de arreglar una bicicleta para que la tengan.

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) — A new program is helping to bring bikes to adults and children in need of transportation.
The program launched by Pedaltown Bicycle Company takes used bikes in from customers looking to buy a new one. The business then uses the bikes to “give it forward” to those in need of a ride.
The owner of Pedaltown explained to Local 24 the multiple benefits of this program.
“There’s so much learning happening with an effort like this,” said Clark Butcher. “The individual that’s getting a new bike and paying theirs forward, there’s a skill that’s being learned and a nice trait. And the individual that’s getting the bike is learning how to repair, replace, fix, as well as the ability to see that finish line and getting that product at the end of their community service hours.”
In order for a person to receive a bike, they must go through the ‘Build-A-Bike’ program, where participants do 10 hours of community service before fixing a bike for them to keep.
