Two women killed after ‘violent incident’ in Malmö school

Copenhagen, Mar 22 (EFE).- Two women died Monday after being “subjected to violence” in a school in the southern Swedish city of Malmö.

An 18-year-old student has been arrested on suspicion of murder, police said.

The two women were injured in the secondary school in which they worked, but died after being taken by ambulance to the hospital.

“Two women in their 50s have died as a result of being subjected to violence,” a police statement said on Monday night.

Police said there were no reports of gunfire and about 50 people were at the Malmö Latin School when the incident occurred around 5 pm (16:00 GMT).

The school was evacuated and searched, with police finding no indication of other suspects. It has also carried out investigative measures at the school and elsewhere.

“Now a great deal of work awaits to be able to understand what happened and the underlying motive for this terrible event,” said Malmö north police chief Åsa Nilsson. EFE
