Arie, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Lord Huron, Flogging Molly, 6lack, Trippie Redd, Chvrches y Lil Dicky.

A ellos se unen otros artistas, dúos y bandas, tales como: Big Boi, Good Charlotte, Dirty Heads, In This Moment, Moneybagg Yo, Simple Plan, Rodrigo y Gabriela, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Blocboy Jb, Moon Taxi, Ravyn Lenae, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Madison Beer, Bettye Lavette, Coin, Everlast, William Bell, The Suffers, John Kilzer and the Scars, Healy, Liz Brasher, Saving Abel, Joe Louis Walker, Southern Avenue, Ghost Town Blues Band, Nle Choppa, Anthony Russo, Muck Sticky, Guitar Shorty, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Will Tucker, Super Chikan, Hamish Anderson, Blind Mississippi Morris, Terry “Harmonica” Bean, Barbara Blue, Brandon Santini, Gracie Curran & The High Falutin’ Band, Keith Sykes and the Revolving Band, Fast Cash Boyz, Everclear, The Claypool Lennon Delirium y muchos más.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — “The Home of the Blues” is celebrating big time these days. Not only is the commemoration of its bicentennial but one of the most important events in town is also about to start: Memphis in May.

Known as one of the best annual festivals in the U.S, and even around the world, Memphis in May is distinguished by the great diversity it offers in terms of art, music, culture and cuisine, in addition to promoting and celebrating the cultural heritage of Memphis, fostering economic growth in the region and raising international awareness through education.

In 2018, Memphis in May had an unprecedented gross revenue of $10.9 million, which was an increase of 12% compared to 2017. Its impact on the local economy last year was such that it exceeded its own record of $111.9 million (2017) with an impressive sum of $137.7 million, thus contributing more than $3.5 million in local tax revenues and supporting 1,300 full-time employees.

For this year, the economic impact is expected to be much greater, as for the first time in history, the famous international festival will not be honoring another country. Instead, the organization has chosen to salute Memphis for its 200 years.

“As the Official Festival of the City of Memphis, our board of directors understood what an historic opportunity this was for Memphis in May to break from tradition and celebrate a new century for Memphis,” said James L. Holt, President and CEO of Memphis in May. “Each year we celebrate the rich history and culture of another country here in Memphis, but this year we look forward to celebrating the history and culture of our hometown as only Memphis in May can.”

As usual, Memphis in May will start this time with the increasingly popular “Beale Street Music Festival,” which will be held from Friday, May 3, through Sunday, May 5, at Tom Lee Park (Downtown).

In its 43rd annual edition, the Beale Street Music Festival – which includes rock, blues, soul, pop, R&B, hip hop, indie, and country, among other musical genres – will feature live performances by Cardi B, OneRepublic, Khalid, Dave Matthews Band, Riley Green, The Killers, G-Eazy, Charlie Wilson, Shinedown, Gary Clark Jr., India.Arie, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Lord Huron, Flogging Molly, 6lack, Trippie Redd, Chvrches, and Lil Dicky.

Joining them will be other artists, duos and bands, such as: Big Boi, Good Charlotte, Dirty Heads, In This Moment, Moneybagg Yo, Simple Plan, Rodrigo y Gabriela, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Blocboy Jb, Moon Taxi, Ravyn Lenae, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Madison Beer, Bettye Lavette, Coin, Everlast, William Bell, The Suffers, John Kilzer and the Scars, Healy, Liz Brasher, Saving Abel, Joe Louis Walker, Southern Avenue, Ghost Town Blues Band, Nle Choppa, Anthony Russo, Muck Sticky, Guitar Shorty, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Will Tucker, Super Chikan, Hamish Anderson, Blind Mississippi Morris, Terry “Harmonica” Bean, Barbara Blue, Brandon Santini, Gracie Curran & The High Falutin’ Band, Keith Sykes and the Revolving Band, Fast Cash Boyz, Everclear, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, and many more.

Single-day tickets are $60 (+ other fees) while the three-day passes are $180 (+ other fees). These tickets can be purchased at eventbrite.com or at the festival’s gate.

Other Memphis in May events, that are equally iconic and important, are: The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, which will take place from May 15 to May 18, 2019; The Great American River Run, which will be on May 25, 2019; and Celebrate Memphis, which will be replacing the traditional “901 Fest” this year and will be held on May 25, 2019, at Tom Lee Park (gates open at 3 PM).

According to Memphis in May officials, Celebrate Memphis promises to be “one of the Mid-South’s most spectacular events. This event will showcase individuals, organizations and ideas from every corner of the community.” It will be totally free, with activities for the whole family, games, arts and crafts, vendors, and live entertainment. It will also feature Memphis food in the Eat901 Food Court, as well as an attempt at the World’s Longest Picnic Table, the city’s first public lighted drone show over the Mississippi River, the Mid-South’s largest fireworks show, and more.

As if that were not enough, the organizers of Memphis in May have partnered with other organizations, institutions, museums, chefs and local historians to highlight throughout the month of May the culture and cuisine of Memphis.
