5 killed after Russian missile hits Dnipro apartment block

Lviv, Ukraine, Jan 14 (EFE).- At least five people were killed by a Russian missile strike that partially collapsed a residential apartment building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Saturday, local authorities said.

The military administration leader in the Dnipropetrovsk region Valentyn Reznichenko gave the death toll update in a Telegram post hours after the strike caused major destruction to the nine-storey building.

He added that 39 were injured in the attack, including seven children.

Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared a video on his official Facebook page showing the rescue efforts at the site of the attack.

“Eternal memory to all whose lives were taken by Russian terror! The world must stop this evil,” he said.

“Debris clearance in Dnipro continues. All services are working. We are fighting for every person, every life.”

Russia on Saturday also launched strikes against infrastructure targets in the capital Kyiv, as well as the cities of Kharkiv in the northeast and Lviv in the far west, authorities reported. EFE
