Inter crowned champions of Italy

Rome, May 2 (EFE).- Inter Milan have ended Juventus’ dominance in Italian football by claiming their first Serie A league title in over 10 years.

After Inter’s 2-0 win at Crotone on Saturday gave them a 14-point lead, Atalanta, Napoli or AC Milan, all tied for second place, needed to win on Sunday to keep their own dwindling hopes of catching the Nerazzurri with four games left to play this season.

But Atalanta and Napoli both slipped to 1-1 draws against Sassuolo and Cagliari respectively, handing Antonio Conte’s side the club’s first trophy since they won the Coppa Italia in 2011.

Inter’s runaway championship win ends Juventus’ record-breaking run of nine league titles.

The Nerazzurri’s last Serie A title came in 2010. EFE
