Palestinian teenager shot dead by Israeli soldiers in West Bank clashes

Jerusalem, May 25 (EFE).- The Israeli military on Wednesday killed a Palestinian minor during clashes in the occupied West Bank, according to official sources.

Ghaith Rafiq Yamin, the second teenager killed by the Israeli army in the West Bank in five days, died of a serious injury after being shot in the head in Nablus, the Palestinian health ministry said.

The incident occurred during clashes when Israeli soldiers escorted a group of Jews to Joseph’s Tomb, which has been venerated for centuries by Christians, Jews and Muslims.

“Hundreds of Palestinians instigated a violent riot as security forces escorted worshipers to Joseph’s Tomb,” the Israeli army said in a statement. “Rioters threw stones and Molotov cocktails.”

Troops responded by firing “live ammunition at a suspect who was throwing a Molotov cocktail,” a military spokesman added.

On Saturday, a 17-year-old Palestinian was also shot dead by troops during clashes between soldiers and Palestinian militiamen in the Jenin area. EFE
