Dallas double sees 10-man Leeds fell Manchester City
Sports Desk, Apr 10 (EFE).- Stuart Dallas fired two past Manchester City to give a 10-man Leeds United the edge over the Premier League leaders at the Etihad on Saturday with a 1-2 away victory.
The Northern Ireland international opened the scoring just before half-time, assisted by Patrick Bamford.
Just minutes later, Leeds captain Liam Cooper was sent off for a dangerous, lunging tackle on Gabriel Jesus. Initially given a yellow card, the referee upgraded it red after checking VAR.
Marcelo Bielsa decided to shore up his defensive line, pulling Bamford off for Pascal Strujik.
Down to 10 men, Leeds managed to keep a probing City at bay until the 76th minute, when Ferran Torres collected a well-worked ball in the Leeds box and fired it beyond Illian Meslier.
At the other end, Ederson was called into action with a sliding tackle when fellow Brazilian Raphinha came charging into the area on the counter.
Manchester City’s Fernandinho struggled to keep up with Raphinha the entire match.
Dallas rounded off a surprise victory in the 91st minute, collecting a through ball and outpacing John Stone to smash the ball through Ederson’s legs.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City remain top of the Premier League, 14 points ahead of second-place Manchester United, who play Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. EFE
