Mick Jagger brings home flamenco souvenir after Spain show
Alicante, Spain, Jun 3 (EFE).- Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger left Madrid with another concert under his belt, perhaps his last in Spain, but he also took with him a classical guitar, a souvenir from the land of flamenco that was crafted by Guitarras Bros, a small shop with nearly 50 years of history in Gata de Gorgos, eastern Spain.
Jagger’s new guitar was built with a fretboard preserved for 54 years and a coral and wood body that similarly was kept in storage by the founder of the shop, whose grandson Adam Broseta now runs the establishment.
Broseta told Efe that the guitar was recommended to the 78-year-old singer by the flamenco dancers who performed a private show for the Rolling Stones singer during his stay in Spain for his Madrid show on Wednesday evening.
“He wanted a private flamenco show for himself,” Broseta said, adding that the Spanish music style was a passion of Jagger’s.
It is not the first brush with fame for Broseta.
Other celebrity clients include Joaquín Sabina, Alejandro Sanz, Camilo and Amy Winehouse, who even visited the store in person.
The establishment, which has been passed down three generations, produces 70 guitars every three months.
“This is the essence of artisanship, to continue working in the shop that my grandfather founded, with his tools, with exactly the same wood that they used,” he told Efe. EFE
