De regreso a la escuela después de las vacaciones de invierno

Enero marca el comienzo del segundo semestre. Aunque puedes todavía estar en la mentalidad de vacaciones de invierno, es importante regresar a la escuela preparado para los desafíos que tus clases te plantearán.
Aunque los primeros días normalmente son relajados, en los años pasados hemos arrancado a toda marcha en el segundo semestre. Como puede ser fácil que las clases se atrasen debido a días de clase perdidos o feriados, el segundo semestre típicamente acelera, y aquellos estudiantes que no estén listos pueden quedarse atrás muy rápidamente. Los estudiantes muchas veces se atrasan al comienzo del segundo semestre debido a que todavía están en “modo de vacaciones” y sienten como que pueden entrar con calma a las primeras semanas. A veces me encuentro haciendo la tarea descuidadamente o relajándome cuando necesito hacer mi trabajo.
Es mucho más agradable trabajar al comienzo del semestre y no tener que trabajar muchísimo al fin del año para elevar (¡o salvar!) tu nota a último momento.
Aunque puede ser tentador abordar con tranquilidad el mes de enero, realmente rinde trabajar con disciplina desde comienzos del semestre.

January marks the beginning of the second semester. Though you may still be in the Winter Break mindset, it’s important to come back to school prepared for what your classes will throw at you.
Though the first few days are usually relaxed, for the past couple years we have hit the ground running in the second semester. Since it can be easy for classes to get behind in assignments due to missed days of school or holidays, the second semester tends to speed up and students who aren’t prepared can fall behind easily. Students often fall behind at the start of the second semester due to their still being in “break mode” and feeling like they can ease through the first couple of weeks back. Sometimes, in the early going, I catch myself doing assignments a bit carelessly or relaxing when I need to do work.
It’ll be much more enjoyable to work hard at the start of the second semester and not have to rush to get your grade up the last week of school.
Though it may be tempting to ease into the second semester, it truly pays off to keep up the good work early.
