Disneyland Paris reopens after eight month closure

Madrid Desk, Jun 17 (EFE).- Disneyland Paris reopened its doors to the public Thursday to “bring the magic back” after an eight-month closure to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

“It is the big day! Welcome everyone!” Disneyland Paris said on Twitter.

Hundreds of families attended the reopening party, hosted by Mickey and Minnie Mouse along with costumed employees dancing and singing.

Europe’s biggest tourist attraction has been shut since October 30 as France entered a national lockdown. Before that, it had already shut its doors from March 13 to July 15 during the first wave of lockdowns.

During its closure, the theme park was being used as a vaccination center.

Thursday’s opening comes as France lifted the mandatory use of face masks outdoors thanks to a fall in coronavirus infections and as vaccine schemes pick up pace.

It is also the first time in one and a half years that all Disney parks worldwide have been open at the same time. Disneyland in California opened its doors on April 30 after being closed for 13 months. EFE
