Djokovic dethrones Alcaraz to return to top of ATP rankings

Madrid, Apr 3 (EFE).- Novak Djokovic on Monday began his 381st week at the top of the ATP world rankings, dethroning Spanish teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz, who dropped to No. 2.

The recently-concluded Miami Open, which Russia’s Daniil Medvedev won, has caused micro-movements among the top ten in the world rankings.

Alcaraz’s loss in the tournament has led him to lose his No. 1 ranking to Djokovic while Medvedev moves up to No. 4 after his win.

Norway’s Casper Ruud is No. 5, followed by Russia’s Andrey Rublev Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the sixth and seventh spots respectively.

Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas remains steady at No. 3 as do Holger Rune of Denmark at No. 8, and American Taylor Fritz at No. 10.

Italy’s Jannik Sinner, who stunned Alcaraz in the semifinals, moves up two spots to No. 9.

Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who has been out of action since sustaining an injury in the Australian Open, drops one spot, to No. 14. EFE
