With a first serve percentage of better than 85 percent, the Serbian world No. 1 was in command throughout the round of 16 match, but Garin turned in a creditable performance that earned him the appreciation of the spectators at Center Court.

Djokovic, winner of nine of his 11 previous quarterfinal clashes at the All England Club, will face Marton Fucsovics in the next round after the Hungarian outlasted Russian’s Andrei Rublev. 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 on Monday.

The 39-year-old Swiss great’s 105th career victory at Wimbledon brought him level with Rafael Nadal for most matches won in the same Grand Slam tournament, matching the Spaniard’s French Open mark.

Federer will have to wait to learn the identity of his next opponent, as Monday’s round of 16 match between Russian world No. 2 Daniil Medvedev and Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz was suspended due to rain.

Medvedev was leading by two sets to one when play was halted in the fourth set.

The men’s side saw a significant upset Monday as 17th-ranked Felix Auger-Aliassime beat world No. 6 Alexander Zverev of Germany 6-4, 7-6 (6), 3-6, 3-6, 6-4.

Next up for the 20-year-old Canadian will be Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, who defeated Ilya Ivashka of Belarus 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 EFE
