Dortmund, United agree 85m euro deal for Jadon Sancho

Sports Desk, Jul 1 (EFE).- Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United have agreed a fee of 85 million euro for the transfer of England winger Jadon Sancho, the German club confirmed Thursday.

“We are happy with the money, but we are sad to see Jadon leave,” Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told a press conference.

Sancho, who is currently on duty with the England national team at Euro 2020, is expected to sign a five-year contract, having agreed personal terms with the club last summer.

The deal brings an end to a long-running transfer saga that began last year when the clubs could not come to an agreement.

Dortmund had refused to budge from their initial asking price of 120 million euros, with United holding out in the hopes of securing a cheaper deal that never materialized.

But with just two years left on his contract, the Bundesliga team have decided to cash in on one of European football’s hottest prospects.

Sancho’s arrival will add to Manchester United’s already formidable attack, and reinforces their right flank, an area manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had identified as a priority during this transfer window as he bids to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title. EFE
