Draghi extends ban on travel between Italian regions

Rome, Feb 22 (efe-epa).-The recently-formed Italian government of Prime Minister of Mario Draghi on Monday confirmed an extension to the current ban on interregional and imposed further restrictions on so-called “red zones.”

With his first major policy announcement, the former head of the European Central Bank, who was sworn in last week, followed in the footsteps of the previous government as he extended the regional travel ban until 27 March.

Red zone rules are to be expanded to include stay-at-home orders. Currently, there are no Italian regions classed as a red zone.

In the orange and yellow areas, people will continue to be able to leave their homes to visit families and friends in limited groups before the night-time curfew comes into effect.

Thus far, Italy has administered a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine to 3,503,767 people, while another 1,330,468 have received two doses. EFE-EPA
