Carlos Sainz renews contract with Ferrari until 2024

Madrid 21 Apr (EFE).- Carlos Sainz has renewed his contract with Scuderia Ferrari for a further two seasons, the Spanish race driver announced Thursday.

Sainz, who has clinched eight podiums in F1 races, shared the news on the eve of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola (Italy)

“I am delighted to have renewed my contract with Scuderia Ferrari. I have always said that there is no better Formula 1 team to race for and after over a year with them, I can confirm that all my expectations have been exceeded,” Sainz said in a statement.

“Putting on this race suit and representing this team is a great honor for me and I really look forward to keep enjoying our journey together,” he added.

Sainz debuted with the Maranello squad in the 2021 season and has since secured six podiums with the team, two of them in the current season.

“I have said several times that I believe we have the best driver pairing in Formula 1 and so, with every passing race, it seemed a completely natural step to extend Carlos’ contract, thus ensuring stability and continuity,” Mattia Binotto, Maranello Team Principal & Managing Director, said.

“Together, we can aim for ambitious targets and I’m sure that, along with Charles, he can play a significant part in fuelling the Ferrari legend and will write new chapters in the history of our team,” Binotto continued.

Carlos made his Formula 1 debut aged 20 with Toro Rosso in the 2015 season.

He joined Renault during the 2017 Championship, followed by McLaren in 2019.

Ferrari signed the Spaniard on in 2020 for the 2021 season.EFE
