El Levitt Shell revela la lista de artistas para su “Serie de Conciertos Gratis” en el otoño 2018
The Levitt Shell Announces New Fall Lineup for Its “Free Music Concert Series”

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — El Levitt Shell ha anunciado la lista de artistas para su Serie de Conciertos Gratis en el Otoño del 2018, que se llevará a cabo del 6 de septiembre al 21 de octubre. Según el Levitt Shell, esta temporada marcará el décimo año oficial de 50 conciertos gratuitos, realizados durante los meses de verano y otoño, en el icónico lugar.
Presentado por Orion, la temporada de otoño incluye a diversos artistas locales y regionales como North Mississippi Allstars, Memphis Hepcats, Rhodes Jazz Night con Joyce Cobb y Those Pretty Wrongs, por nombrar sólo algunos. La nueva serie también contará con dos grupos de música latina: Orquesta Akokan y Las Cafeteras.
El resto de la temporada de otoño incluye el concierto de Lake Street Dive (29 de septiembre), el cual será el único pagado por ser parte del evento de recaudación de fondos para el Levitt Shell, el llamado “Stars at the Shell”. Las entradas para Lake Street Dive cuestan $30 y están disponibles en levittshell.org.
En cuanto a los conciertos gratuitos, los cuales ofrecen una amplia variedad de estilos musicales para todos los gustos y todas las edades, cada uno tendrá lugar de jueves a domingo, todas las semanas, a partir de las 7 PM.
Siendo un teatro al aire libre, el Levitt Shell guarda un gran significado para los residentes de Memphis. Fue construido en 1936, bajo el nombre de “The Overton Park Shell”, por la Alcaldía de Ciudad de Memphis y WPA (Works Progress Administration) con tan sólo $11,935, que en aquella época era muchísimo dinero. MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — The Levitt Shell has announced the lineup for its 2018 Fall Free Music Concert Series, which will run from September 6 to October 21. According to the Levitt Shell, this season will mark the official 10th year of 50 free concerts, held during the summer and fall months, in the iconic venue.
Presented by Orion, the fall season includes many local and regional artists such as the North Mississippi Allstars, Memphis Hepcats, Rhodes Jazz Night with Joyce Cobb, and Those Pretty Wrongs, to name just a few. The new series will also feature two Latin music groups: Orquesta Akokan and Las Cafeteras.
The rest of the fall season includes one ticketed “Stars at the Shell” fundraising concert: Lake Street Dive (September 29). Tickets for Lake Street Dive are $30, and are available at levittshell.org now.
Regarding the free concerts, which offer a with a wide variety of musical styles for everyone, each one will take place from Thursday to Sunday, every week, starting at 7 PM.
Being an open air theatre, the Levitt Shell holds great meaning for Memphis residents. It was built in 1936, under the name of “The Overton Park Shell,” by the City of Memphis and depression-era WPA (Works Progress Administration) for $11,935, which at that time was a lot of money. The Shell was designed by architect Max Furbringer.
It is located in the heart of Midtown, in Overton Park, and was the first stage that Elvis Presley took when he opened the show for headliner Slim Whitman on July 30, 1954. Elvis stole the show and his act was considered as the first “rock and roll” concert in history.
