Embattled UK prime minister Liz Truss announces resignation

London, Oct 20 (EFE).- The United Kingdom’s prime minister Liz Truss on Thursday announced her resignation after just six weeks in the job.

The Conservative Party leader made the announcement outside her official Downing Street residence after her government plunged into chaos following a string of major policy U-turns.

She said she would stay in power until her successor is decided in a Conservative Party leadership vote.
