Erdogan to meet Putin in Sochi

Moscow, Jul 26 (EFE).- Russia’s president Vladimir Putin is set to meet with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Black Sea resort of Sochi next month, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.

“There will be a meeting (between Putin and Erdogan) on August 5 in Sochi,” the Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told local media.

The meeting will address “regional and bilateral” issues, Peskov added.

Putin and Erdogan held a bilateral meeting on 19 July in Tehran, where they took part in a summit on Syria alongside their Iranian counterpart.

Three days later, Ukraine and Russia signed a deal in Istanbul to resume Ukrainian grain exports through ports blockaded by Russian forces.

Turkey, which has not joined Western sanctions against Russia, maintains a neutral position in the Ukrainian conflict due to its close economic ties with Moscow and good relations with Kyiv. EFE
