Kanye West escorted from Skechers offices after unannounced visit

Los Angeles, Oct 26 (EFE).- Shoe company Skechers said it escorted rapper Kanye West from its Los Angeles offices, where he turned up uninvited a day after Adidas announced it was ending its lucrative partnership with the rapper over a spate of controversies, including antisemitic remarks.

“Skechers is not considering and has no intention of working with West,” the company said in a statement published after the incident Wednesday.

The company added that the rapper “was engaged in unauthorized filming, two Skechers executives escorted him and his party from the building after a brief conversation.”

West, now legally known as Ye, has seen his partnerships drop off since making a series of racist and antisemitic comments.

German company Adidas on Tuesday announced it was dropping its collaboration with West, following similar decisions by fashion brand Balenciaga and Hollywood talent agency CAA.

West’s business woes come days after the family of George Floyd, an African American man murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis in 2020, announced a $250 million defamation suits against the rapper after he said in a podcast that the cause of Floyd’s death was the use of the opioid fentanyl and not police violence.

Days earlier, West attended a fashion show in Paris wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the message White Lives Matter.

West was also recently suspended from Twitter and Instagram over antisemitic comments.

In one post, West criticized Jared Kushner — former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law — saying he just wanted to make money.

“I don’t know … I just think that that’s what they’re about is making money. I don’t think that they have the ability to make anything on their own. I think they were born into money,” he said of Kushner, who is also Jewish.

He then escalated his tone by saying he would “go death con 3 ON JEWISH PEOPLE,” in an apparent reference to DEFCON 3, a state of military readiness.

West has openly spoken about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. EFE
