US armed forces plane crashes in Japanese waters with 8 crew members

Tokyo, Nov 29 (EFE).- A United States forces plane crashed Wednesday with eight crew members on board off the coast of Yakushima, southwest of Japan, Japanese authorities said.

The coast guard received a notice at 2:47pm local time (5:47 GMT) about the incident, which took place in waters off the Japanese prefecture of Kagoshima, a spokesperson told EFE.

The Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey aircraft was carrying eight crew members, whose conditions are currently unknown.

The plane had taken off from the American base in Iwakuni, in the Yamaguchi prefecture, and was heading to the Kadena base in the Okinawa archipelago, where most US military installations in Japan are located. EFE
