‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ shines at Writers Guild Awards

Los Angeles, United States, Mar 5 (EFE).- Directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert won the award for best original screenplay for their film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” at the 75th edition of the awards organized by the Writers Guild of America.

The institution, which presented its trophies to the best screenwriters of the year in two ceremonies held this Sunday in Los Angeles and New York, also awarded filmmaker Sarah Polley with the award for best adapted screenplay thanks to “Women Talking.”

Both films are nominated for best film for the 2023 Oscars, which will take place Mar. 12 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles in a category for which “Everything Everywhere All at Once” already starts as the main favorite.

In addition to accumulating 11 nominations for the golden statuette of the Hollywood Academy, the film by the “Daniels,” as they are popularly known, has also swept the Screen Actors Guild awards, the Critics Choice or the Spirit Awards, among others.

The guild, which recognizes the most select film, television, radio and digital media in the field of writing, also honored “Severance” (from the Apple TV+ streaming platform) as the best drama series in this 75th installment. of the course and as the best new production.

For its part, “The Bear” (FX) won best comedy series and “The White Lotus” (HBO Max) did the same in the category of best limited series or miniseries.

Likewise, the chapter “Plan and Execution” – from the series “Better Call Saul” (AMC) – won the award for best drama episode and “The One, The Only” – from “Hacks” (HBO Max) – the Best Comedy Episode.

The Writers Guild Awards, held this year ahead of a possible strike by members over a failure to reach an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers of America, also honored filmmaker Spike Lee with the Ian McLellan Hunter Award for his career path. EFE
