Mbappe can’t be allowed to leave for free: PSG president

Paris, Jul 5 (EFE).- Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said Wednesday the club would not allow star player Kylian Mbappe to leave for free.

Mbappe announced earlier this summer that he would not extend his current contract, which ends at the end of June 2024.

In his first public remarks on the future of PSG’s French star, Al-Khelaifi said the club’s position “is very clear.”

“If Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay, but to sign a new contract,” he said.

“We cannot let the best player in the world leave for free,” the PSG president insisted.

Al-Khelaifi was speaking during a press conference to unveil new manager Luis Enrique, who tiptoed around questions about Mbappe’s future by saying the club was trying to assemble “the best squad possible” for the upcoming season.EFE
