Russia fired over 1,300 missiles into Ukraine, says Kyiv

Kyiv, Apr 27 (EFE).- Russia has launched more than 1,300 missiles against Ukraine since it invaded the country on Feb.24, the Ukraine deputy defense minister said on Wednesday.

“According to our data, their (Russia) reserves have already more than halved. Μore than 1,000 rockets have already been used. To be more precise, more than 1,300 missiles,” Hanna Malyar said in a local TV program, state-owned news agency Ukrinform reported.

She said the missiles had been launched by air, land, and sea.

However, the minister said Russia still had enough missiles to cause severe damage to Ukraine.

Malyar said Russia was currently considering several scenarios, in addition to the traditional use of ground forces, aircraft and missile attacks.

It includes the use of chemical and nuclear weapons, which she slammed as “outright blackmail and intimidation” of the entire world, according to Ukrinform.

Meanwhile, the governor of the Russian region of Belgorod announced Wednesday that a fire had broken out at an ammunition depot.

“According to preliminary information, an ammunition depot is on fire near the village of Staraya Nelidovka,” close to the border with Ukraine, Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram, Russian news agency Interfax reported.

“There is no destruction of residential buildings, houses. There are no casualties among the civilian population,” the governor said.

Gladkov said the fire was extinguished.

The governor has denounced several attacks against villages in the border region with Ukraine in recent days.

Russia’s defense ministry has warned of retaliatory strikes against Kyiv if Ukraine continues to attack its territory. EFE
