Falcao makes Rayo Vallecano debut in style

Madrid, Sep 18 (EFE).- Colombian forward Radamel Falcao’s Rayo Vallecano debut lived up to its hype as he scored a goal and was involved in another in their 3-0 win over Getafe.

Falcao was received with a round of applause as he came off the bench with 20 minutes to go for his first appearance with Rayo Vallecano a couple of days after his official presentation.

The former Atletico Madrid player’s return to LaLiga after eight years started in style as he secured a corner that led to Rayo’s second goal a few minutes after coming on.

Then he scored a trademark goal with a powerful shot from inside the area, triggering wild celebrations in the stands.

“I am very happy and very grateful to the coaching staff, colleagues and this public that has supported us,” Falcao said afterwards.

“I dreamed of being able to take the field and score. My colleagues have really given me a lot of encouragement and I have felt very comfortable,” he added.

After an irregular period at Galatasaray, Falcao hopes to build on that good start to regain the top form that marked his spells at clubs such as Porto, Atletico and Monaco.

“Now we have to work for the next game,” he added. EFE
