Family & Friends Gather to Remember Local Musician Omar Higgins
MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/localmemphis.com) — Familia y amigos recordaron al músico Omar Higgins en su servicio funerario hoy martes.
Higgins, cantante y bajista de la banda de reggae Chinese Connection Dub Embassy y de la banda de hardcore punk Negro Terror, Higgins fue un miembro muy querido de la comunidad musical de Memphis.
Una página GoFundMe se inició en su nombre a principios de este mes. Según la página, Higgins sufría de síntomas parecidos a la gripe y dolor de espalda severo. Fue ingresado en la UCI en el Hospital Metodista y se le diagnosticó una mini apoplejía e infección por estafilococos por una llaga en la espalda antes de su muerte.
Los servicios comenzaron con una procesión por Beale Street hasta el Templo de Clayborn, donde las visitas comenzaron a las 11 de la mañana y los servicios funerarios al mediodía.

A lead singer and bassist of both reggae band Chinese Connection Dub Embassy and hardcore punk band Negro Terror, Higgins was a beloved member of the Memphis music community.
A GoFundMe page was started on his behalf earlier this month. According to the page, Higgins was suffering from bad flu-like symptoms and severe back pain. He was admitted to the ICU at Methodist Hospital downtown and was diagnosed with a mini-stroke and a staph infection from a sore on his back before his death.
The services began with a procession down Beale Street to the Clayborn Temple, where visitation took pace at 11 a.m., and funeral services at noon.
