Fan who aimed racist abuse at Vinicius fined 4,000 euros

Madrid, Feb 28 (EFE).- A football fan is to be fined 4,000 euros and banned from entering sport stadiums for a year after he was found guilty of using racial abuse against Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.

The sanctions against the RCD Mallorca fan were outlined by Spain’s state commission against violence, racism and intolerance in sport on Tuesday.

The fan committed the racist act from the stands of the Son Moix stadium on February 5.

Football fan behavior in Spain is coming increasingly under the spotlight after several racist incidents aimed at the Brazilian winger.

In September last year, a group of Atletico Madrid fans were filmed chanting racist slogans before the derby in the Copa del Rey. Prosecutors decided to take no action.

Atletico fans were involved in another incident in January when they hanged an effigy of Vinicius from a bridge in the Spanish capital.

The Real Madrid star also said he received racist abuse from Real Valladolid fans. EFE
