FC Barcelona confirm temporary move to Olympic Stadium in 2023-2024 season

Barcelona, Jun 21 (EFE).- Barcelona on Tuesday officially confirmed that the Olympic Stadium will be their temporary home turf in the 2023-2024 season while the Camp Nou is being remodeled.

Barça reached an agreement with Barcelona City Council through the company Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (B:SM), which runs the ground officially known as the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, the LaLiga club said in a statement.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will be able to play their home matches at the 55,000-seater stadium, according to the statement.

“At Barça we are grateful to the city for helping us so much with the negotiations,” Barcelona president Joan Laporta said during the event.

“We estimate that the transfer to Montjuïc (as the stadium is also known) will cost Barça between 15-20 million euros,” he added.

Meanwhile, deputy mayor Jaume Collboni celebrated the deal: “We are honoured to welcome FC Barcelona”.

“I don’t think there is any better way to celebrate this 30th anniversary of the Olympic Games than this gesture of support and collaboration between the city and FC Barcelona,” he added. EFE
