FC Barcelona delegate members approve Spotify sponsorship deal

Barcelona, Spain, Apr 3 (EFE).- An extraordinary assembly of FC Barcelona delegate members on Sunday approved the club’s sponsorship deal with music platform Spotify by a margin of 625-49.

The agreement with the Swedish streaming giant, which involves brand sponsorship of the men’s and women’s official first team kits, training apparel and the naming rights to the Camp Nou stadium, will come into force as of next season.

“Because of its magnitude, it is the most important sponsorship agreement that the club has signed in its history,” the club president Joan Laporta said.

The figures of the agreement with Spotify remained undisclosed based on a confidentiality agreement requested by the company.

Sources, however, told Efe that the deal will be worth 70 million euros ($77.3m) per year; 60 will be for the front of the shirts, five for training clothes and another five for the Camp Nou naming rights.

Spotify will sponsor the jerseys for four years; the training kits for three; and will have the stadium title rights for four.

Once the remodeling of the Camp Nou is finished, scheduled for the end of 2025, the figure that Spotify will pay for the name of the stadium will be multiplied, Laporta said.

“There will be concerts at the Camp Nou and with the women’s team we will surely find new forms of collaboration that will reinforce our commitment to equality,” Laporta added. EFE
