Zelenskyy: Russian missiles fly over 3 nuclear power plants in Ukraine

Kyiv, Apr 27 (EFE).- Three cruise missiles launched by Russia have flown simultaneously over three Ukrainian nuclear power plants: Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi and Yuzhnoukrainsk, Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday.

Russian troops “launched three missiles against Ukraine so that they would fly directly over the blocks of our nuclear power plants,” Zelenskyy said in a video published last night, the local Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported.

“I have no words for this,” he added.

Russian military actions near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant showed that they do not understand nuclear safety rules, he added.

“It turns out that they do not understand what Chernobyl is. (…) The Russian troops who tried to attack Kyiv through the Chernobyl zone used this closed territory as a military foothold,” Zelenskyy added.

Zelenskyy’s remarks came a day after the state-owned Energoatom said that two cruise missiles launched by Russian troops flew low over the Zaporizhia it runs.

Those missiles later hit the Zaporizhzhia city, a few kilometers from the nuclear facilities, killing at least one. EFE
