The Prague ballet school helping Ukrainian refugee kids find their feet

Prague, Mar 24 (EFE).- The war in Ukraine has caused millions of people to leave the country in search of refuge, tearing families apart as mostly women and children flee abroad to safety.

In a bid to help these young victims of war settle into their new homes and distract them from the turmoil and violence they have been forced to leave behind, a ballet school in Prague is opening its doors to welcome Ukrainian children who have fled Russia’s invasion of their homeland.

Once a week, the Czech National Ballet Preparatory School will offer Ukrainian refugee children aged six to 12 dance and ballet lessons, free of charge.

“Thousands of Ukrainian children lost their homes. We would like to lift their burden a little bit, bring them joy – through art, movement, dance,” the school said in a statement.

According to Save the Children, more than half the refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine are children. EFE
