Fox News cameraman killed near Kyiv covering Russian invasion of Ukraine

Washington, Mar 15 (EFE).- Cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski was killed in Ukraine after his vehicle came under fire near Kyiv Monday, his employer Fox News said Tuesday.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news this morning regarding our beloved cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski.

Pierre was killed in Horenka, outside of Kyiv, Ukraine,” Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said.

Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshinova was killed in the same attack, local press reported.

Irish cameraman Zakrzewski was with correspondent Benjamin Hall, who was injured when their vehicle came under fire while newsgathering.

“Pierre was a war zone photographer who covered nearly every international story for Fox News from Iraq to Afghanistan to Syria during his long tenure with us,” Scott added.

“I worked with Pierre many times around the world. He was an absolute treasure. Sending our most heartfelt prayers to Pierre’s wife and family,” Fox News anchor, John Roberts said on Twitter.

Zakrzewski’s death comes after American journalist Brent Renaud was killed on Sunday when the car he was traveling in came under fire in Irpin, just outside Kyiv.

A total of four journalists have been killed since the Russian invasion of Ukraine so far. EFE
