Chanel impressionist Haute Couture takes spotlight at Paris Fashion Week

Paris, Jul 6 (EFE).- Like a glance at an Édouard Manet painting, the Chanel Haute Couture autumn-winter collection treated the Paris Fashion Week with an abundance of soft hues, classy ribbons and puffy skirts.

Virginie Viard, the brand’s creative director, said she was inspired by old images of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel dressed in black and white in 1880s style.

The collection premiered at the first Chanel runway show of the year, the last one being in October 2020, with reduced capacity at the Palais Galliera, the museum of fashion and fashion history in the French capital.

The mighty brand has adapted to the Covid-19 pandemic throughout the past year, and managed to come back with a solid offering for the fall season.

Actress Marguerite Qualley stepped into the spotlight wearing a minimalist bridal gown with puffed up shoulders, a back cleavage and a short tail to close the show. EFE
