Areola holds West Ham, stops Brighton

Sports Desk, Jan 2 (EFE).- Neither West Ham nor Brighton took the step forward to cement their European chances, in their direct English Premier League duel Tuesday in London, in which local goalkeeper Alphonse Areola shone to keep the result scoreless.

The Hammers are now at five points, while the Seagulls are eight points behind Tottenham’s fifth place in the standings following the 0-0 at the London Stadium.

Areola, at home, with several worthy saves, was one of the main architects of the scoreline, and, to a lesser extent, visiting goalkeeper Jason Steele, with his first intervention on half an hour against James Ward-Prowse also crucial.

West Ham, who struggled to get the point, ended a sequence of three consecutive victories, while remaining six points behind the Champions League, while Brighton have not achieved two consecutive victories since the sixth round of the championship and are seventh. EFE
